Tom and Mackenzie

Here's a great photo of Tom from Richmond C of E Primary, when he met Mackenzie at Arthaus in December. What a brilliant picture!
Have you ever met Mackenzie? Or had your picture taken with him? Let us know!
Hope to see you again soon Tom!

Bee Boy meets Middleham Primary!

Yesterday Bee Boy and Alice visited Middleham C of E Primary School and had a fantastic day out! We sat in the hotseat, answered lots of questions, talked about different Mackenzie sculptures and saw the brilliant artwork Class 2 have been working on. Bee Boy was a bit shy at first but the children were very friendly!

Thanks to all the children for your questions and enthusiasm, and to Mrs Monaghan for inviting us. Hopefully Bee Boy and Alice will see you very soon!

Middleham Primary School

This week Middleham Primary School have been working on a brilliant Mackenzie inspired French project!
They have been creating their own animal pictures inspired by Mackenzie, to help learn the names of the animals in French. Using pastels and different coloured backgrounds, the children have been experimenting with different ways to draw animals and we think they have done an excellent job!

The children are also working on some writing, answering the question "If Mackenzie Thorpe were to do a painting of you, which animal would you be and why?" What a wonderful project! We can't wait to read about your animals!

Have a look at Middleham Primary's blog for more info on their projects: http://middlehampri2.posterous.com/

A big thanks to Mrs Monaghan for telling us about her class of budding artists!

Sleights C of E Primary School, Whitby

'Waiting For Me Dad'

Today we received a fantastic package from Sleights C of E Primary School in Whitby.
They have been doing a project on transport and went on a trip to Middlesbrough, Mackenzie's hometown, to have a look at the Transporter Bridge, which is in one of Mackenzie's pictures called "Waiting For Me Dad".
They then wrote a story about a character in Mackenzie's work, who they named 'Billy' and wrote about his experiences of the Transporter Bridge. Bee Boy thought the story was brilliant! Here is some of their work,

Thanks to Nina Louise Close, John Paul Smith, Connar Pickering and Philippa Kaye for you wonderful stories and great writing!
